REALTORS® Political Action Committee

Whether we like it or not, your ability to make a living as a REALTOR® is affected by the decisions made by government officials.  That's why the REALTORS® Political Action Committee raises voluntary funds from REALTORS® in order to help elect public officials who understand the importance of homeownership and the real estate industry.  In just the past few years, RPAC has helped the REALTOR® organization fight off harmful legislation and promote policies at all levels of government that strengthens the real estate industry including:

Federal

• Continued preservation of the mortgage interest deduction.
• Supporting capital gains tax cuts and tax reforms which encourage real estate investment.
• Extending the FHA loan limits

State

• Defeated a proposed state-wide increase in the grantor's tax.
• Reformed the law governing homeowner's associations.
• Overturned the property-stigmatizing ban on alternative septic systems.
• Put protections in place for agents against volunteer sign vigilantes.

Local

• Fought against a proposal to increase the Northern Virginia grantor's tax by 500%.
• Supported tabling the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Ordinance.
• Defeated an onerous "warning-style" disclosure on homes within the Limestone Overlay District.
• Advocated for maintenance requirements on alternative septic systems and defeated the local ban.
• Supported disbanding Loudoun County’s volunteer sign collection group
