Begin Your Broker Pre-License Training in 2012
Becoming a real estate broker requires a great deal of time, study and effort, but the rewards can be worth it. If you enjoy managing people, have the ability to train and motivate others and desire to continue your education and take your career to a higher level, broker management may be right for you.
To obtain a real estate broker license in Virginia you must at a minimum, earn a high school diploma or its equivalent, have been actively engaged in the real estate brokerage business for 36 of the past 48 months, take 180 credit-hours of state-approved real estate education from a state-approved real estate school and pass the Virginia state broker licensing exam. DAAR is teaming up with the Blue Ridge Association of REALTORS to offer all four of the 45-hour broker pre-license courses: Broker Management, Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Law and Appraisal that will satisfy the 180 hour educational requirement for a Broker's license in Virginia:
Broker Management (1/9-2/27/2012)
The course meets for six Mondays beginning on January 9th from 9AM-5PM and ending on February 27th, 2012.
Course Description: The Broker Management course covers many aspects of brokerage including leadership, management skills, communications and decision making, analyzing the business environment and market, developing a business plan, structuring the organization, finances, business policies and procedures, marketing and advertising, practical and legal realities of staffing, recruiting, professional competency, coaching and training, critiquing operations and managing risk. Students will be assigned to build a complete business model for presentation.

Real Estate Finance (1/10-2/14/2012)
The course meets for six Tuesdays beginning on January 10th from 9AM-5PM and ending on February 14th, 2012.
Course Description: The course covers the cycle of real estate financing including the monetary system, sources of money, instruments used in financing, conventional, FHA, VA loan programs, the processing and closing of loans, default and foreclosures and additional finance programs.

Real Estate Law (2/28-4/3/2012)
The course meets for six consecutive Tuesdays, February 28th, 9AM-5PM, through April 3rd, 2012.
Course Description: The course covers a wide variety of topics including; the nature of real estate law, property rights, interests in land, forms of ownership, leasehold interests, contracts and basic contract law, agency and brokerage, fair housing and environmental issues.

Real Estate Appraisal (3/12-4/16/2012)
The course meets for six consecutive Mondays beginning on March 12th from 9AM-5PM through April 16th, 2012.
Course Description: Designed to help both the student and the established professional relate appraisal theory and technique to practice, the course will provide insight into the basic approaches to appraising as well as practical examples including the use of forms and data grids to help bring the real work of appraising to the student.
