DAAR Committees

Get Involved and Make a Difference! Joining a DAAR Committee has always been a great way to make new contacts, learn about the new trends in the industry, and have a hand in shaping the Association’s direction. If you’d like to get more involved with DAAR by participating on a committee or simply have some great ideas you’d like to see implemented, please contact the staff liaisons noted below via email.

AFFILIATES: Peter Habib, Chair;John Slye, Vice Chair , Barbra Sanders, Liaison Develops programs to assist Affiliate members with marketing and business success.

BUDGET & FINANCE: Phyllis Stakem, Vice Chair, Finance; Christine Windle, Liaison  Reviews and monitors the financial position of the Association. Makes recommendations to the BOD on financial matters and recommends budget adjustments throughout the year. Prepares the Annual Budget in April for the following year, subject to approval by the BOD. Works closely with staff to assure that the Associations funds are invested properly.

COMMUNITY SERVICE: Brenda MacEoin, Chair; Beth Fischel, Liaison.
Provides leadership in sponsoring and implementing volunteer civic and community activities of the Association. Encourages participation by general membership in programs and projects to address local community concerns such as shelter-related projects. Organizes and produces the Annual Charity Auction and Dinner. Meets as needed.

EDUCATION: Lee McGinnis, Chair; Nancy Pav, Vice Chair,  Teresa Kirkhart, Liaison  Provides the highest quality instructors and educational opportunities for the members. Develops and presents educational and informational programs. Coordinates educational continuing and post licensing courses, international forum, realtor recharge conference courses, and other industry-related programs.

TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS: David Harbour, Chair; John Showalter, Vice Chair; Christine Windle and Brenda Morton, Liaison.  To assist, promote and implement the use of technology, training and systems to the association, staff and members.

GOVERNMENT AND POLITICAL AFFAIRS: Omni Casey, Chair; Mike Wagner, Vice Chair,  Brenda Morton, Liaison.  Monitors local, state & national proposed legislation; recommends and coordinates appropriate call to actions with the State and National Associations. Keeps membership informed on proactive issues and promotes involvement. Makes recommendations to the BOD on new legislative issues and prioritization of issues.

DARPAC FUNDRAISING:  Holly Weatherwax, Chair, Christine Windle, Liaison.  Brenda Morton, Liaison. Organizes the DARPAC Fund Raising Campaign. Coordinates with state committee and promotes member awareness of the need for fundraising for REALTOR® political issues.DARPAC/RPAC fundraising plan. Represents the Association at legislative functions. Meets monthly.

EVENT PLANNING: Rebecca Vittitow, Chair; Chrisie Pekala, Vice Chair, Beth Fischel, Liaison. Helps plan, coordinate and execute networking and industry events including the Economic Summit, REALTOR Expo and Holiday Installation and Awards.  Meets as needed.

MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT/SERVICES: Rich Blessing, Chair. Barbra Sanders, Liaison.  Serves as a resource on the development of recruitment and retention strategies and campaigns; Works to identify member programs and services that improve the value of membership, enhance the member experience, and contribute to the growth of the association.

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS NETWORK (YPN): Eric Sonnhalter, Chair. Barbra Sanders, Liaison. A growing group of career-minded real estate professionals who want to stay abreast of the latest tools, resources, and networking opportunities.  Click here for more information.

GRIEVANCE COMMITTEE:  Meg Burke, Chair; Chris Covey, Vice Chair, Teresa Kirkhart, Liaison.  Investigates written complaints by members and the public to determine if a formal hearing is appropriate concerning alleged violations of the By-laws, Code of Ethics and Association rules and regulations, as well as arbitration requests. All members of this committee must complete the VAR Professional Training Seminar annually. The committee members should be experienced and well-respected members and must be approved by the BOD. Meets as needed. All positions filled for 2017.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS: Beverly O’Toole, Chair; Robert Butcher, Vice Chair, Teresa Kirkhart, Liaison
Serves as a pool of potential panel members for the Association’s Ethics and Arbitration Hearings. Conducts and/or oversees the New Member Ethics Program and communicates NAR policy to the membership. All members of this committee must complete the VAR Professional Training Seminar annually. The committee members must be experienced and well-respected members and must be approved by the BOD. Service on the BOD or Grievance Committee is a pre-requisite for participation in this committee. Meets as needed.  All positions filled for 2017.

DARPAC TRUSTEES: Lars Henriksen, Chair, Christine Windle, Liaison
To provide the opportunity for individuals interested in the future of the real estate brokerage industry to contribute to the support of worthy candidates for state and local office who believe, and have demonstrated their beliefs in, the principles to which the industry is dedicated. To further these purposes, the Committee is empowered to solicit, directly or indirectly, and accept voluntary personal contributions, and to make expenditures in connection with the attempt to encourage the selection, nomination, or election of any individual to a state or local legislative office within our region. All positions filled for 2017.
